About Janette

Janette Martinez is a trusted leader, small business owner, wife, mother, and dedicated City Commissioner for Kissimmee. Since her election in 2022, she has worked tirelessly to put residents first, leading with transparency, integrity, and a commitment to building a safer, stronger, and more prosperous community. Most importantly, Janette is deeply rooted in Kissimmee. A proud wife of 27 years to her middle school sweetheart, Jose Forty, she is a mother of four and grandmother of two, all raised in Kissimmee. Her love for family and community guides every decision she makes, reminding her daily that leadership is about people, not politics.

Public safety has always been Janette’s top priority, and her leadership has strengthened support for first responders while advancing policies that keep neighborhoods secure and livable. She has also championed innovative projects like Haven on Vine, a groundbreaking affordable and transitional housing initiative now serving as a model across Florida. By supporting responsible development that creates jobs, expands homeownership, and empowers small businesses, Janette is ensuring Kissimmee grows in a way that is both safe and sustainable.

As a business owner herself, running Coquí Kitchen food truck and restaurant as well as J40 Print & Design, Janette understands the challenges small businesses face. Her experience fuels her passion for empowering entrepreneurs and creating an environment where local businesses can thrive. She knows firsthand that when small businesses succeed, the entire community benefits.

Beyond her role at City Hall, Janette is a graduate of Full Sail University, an alumna of Leadership Osceola (Class of 2024) and the City of Kissimmee School of Government (Class of 2016). She serves on numerous boards, was proudly endorsed by Kissimmee’s firefighters in 2022, and volunteers with local organizations demonstrating her dedication to service both in and out of office. She is also deeply supported by her family, friends, and peers, who have witnessed her honesty, character, and dedication firsthand.
